Heo Ho, CEO of Heo Si Silk, from Odong-ri, Hamchang-eup, Sangju-si, Myeonggoeul, was honored to be selected as the 'Best Artisan in Gyeongsangbuk-do' in the textile (fiber processing) field.

'Gyeongsangbuk-do's best artisan' was selected as the final five people through examination by the Gyeongsangbuk-do's best artisan screening committee in 96 occupations in 22 fields. They will receive preferential treatment and support as the best craftsmen so that they can contribute to the development of technology and industry in Gyeongsangbuk-do.

CEO Heo Ho, who was selected as the best craftsman this time, will receive a certificate of being the best craftsman and an incentive of 300,000 won per month for 5 years.

Mr. Heo learned traditional silk weaving in 1977 from his mother, who had been carrying on the tradition of silk weaving in Hamchang, the hometown of silk, and has made great efforts to find the hidden value of traditional silk.

As a result, he came to possess technologies such as 3 patents and 1 utility model, and developed them into a local specialized industry grafted on natural dyeing (6 entries in contests, 6 prizes).

In particular, he was recognized for his achievements in inheriting the tradition of Sangju, the home of three hundred, and greatly developing the silk industry, through events such as persimmon dyeing and silk weaving experience events.
